The locomotive was a guest for the gala (it is normally based at the Telford Steam Railway), recreating the early public workings on the line with resident Peckett locomotive "Uskmouth I" and brakevan in 1971 (hence the anniversary). It is seen here approaching Norchard High Level, prior to departing for Parkend where it would work brakevan rides in the station for most of the day.
This was the first sequence I shot, and it may well turn out to be the shot-of-the-day. This is the second version of the photograph on the site; I wasn't completely happy with the first version as I had cropped out part of the down home signal in order to remove the rather intrusive arm of the up starter signal. In this version I've managed to remove the signal arm and keep the down signal intact, and the image is now being offered for sale as wall art.
