The three "pools" at Earlswood collectively known as Earlswood Lakes were built in the 1820s to supply water to the Stratford-upon-Avon canal which passes to the northeast. They subsequently became a visitor attraction, aided by the construction of a railway which passes to the southwest of the lakes.
