The Elan Valley
The Elan Valley is located in Powis, in central  Wales.   At the end of the 19th Century, work began on flooding parts of the valley in order to create a water supply for the city of Birmingham, some 70 miles to the east.  This resulted in the construction of several dams, so this collection is perhaps more of a "Landscape and Engineering" collection.

I had been thinking about visiting the area for a couple of years, and finding myself unable to get to Dorset in September 2012, I decided to make a day trip to the valley as one of the replacement activities.   On this visit I managed to cover the area between Caban-Coch and Penygarreg dams; I think full coverage of the area is going to require at least two more trips.
