Evesham Arts Centre (2009 - 2010)
As a result of my work on the River Festival, I was asked if I could do some work at the Evesham Arts Centre (subsequently renamed "The Henrician") , and since it is only just round the corner from where I live, and I felt I could use some practice working indoors, I agreed to come in on certain occasions and photograph some of the people appearing. I did this from September 2009 until July 2010, at which point I felt that I could not devote the time and resources that I felt the task needed, and that certain circumstances had rather spoilt the role for me.
This collection contains some of the better photographs from that period, and as will be seen, my sessions were somewhat irregular indeed. Looking back on the work, there is work that I am proud of (and some that, with the subject now deceased, can never be repeated), but on the other hand, some sessions didn't go too well, for various reasons. The work also resulted in my first publication in the local media (although uncredited at the time of publication).
Would I return to this position? Probably not; the job was probably better off being done by a professional photographer, and when the centre hired in a professional for the 2010 open day, it perhaps highlighted this. Had I known that the AC had hired a professional for that event, I would have considered myself surplus to requirements and not bothered attending.
