The "Boar's Head" or "Arrowhead" formation is a medieval battle tactic where one army tries to smash through another's lines in a wedge-shaped formation, and it is believed that de Montfort's army may have attempted this tactic at Evesham.  It is a risky manoeuvre though, as if the enemy line isn't broken, the enemy can then move to flank the attacking army, doing serious damage.
